Lefkes Museums

PDF Print E-mail

There are two museums in the village.
One is managed by the cultural association Iria and is a cross-section of the old way of living. It holds embroideries, textiles, objects of everyday life, tolls and more. Nikos Panteleos gathered them with much dedication, and donated them to the former community of Lefkes. More donations followed, and it soon became the first folklore museum on the island.
The second museum is privately run and owned and is housed Lefkes Village Hotel. It is a museum of the local civilization of the Aegean Sea, as its exhibits are from all over the Cycladic Islands. By visiting these museums, one is able to obtain a better understanding of the idiosyncrasies and ways of life of the Cycladic people.
