Naoussa is situated on the north side of the island and is surrounded by a small, safe port. The port as well as the wider area, lye in a fantastic geographical position, and it is for this reason that is has been inhabited and developed since ancient times. Today Naoussa attracts many visitors with its combination of tradition, modernity, beautiful beaches and wild nightlife.
Beaches
The coast of Naoussa starts in Damouli and ends at the lighthouse. Although you are only able to access Damouli beach from a very steep road, it is an enchanting spot and well worth the effort. Next to Damouli is the settlement of Ambelas. This is a quiet beach with clean waters and fresh fish. If you follow the dirt road of the beach, opposed to the paved road, the kingfishers and the natural beauty will have you spellbound. This will take you to Santa Maria, an extremely popular beach. If you prefer quieter bays, on the way from Santa Maria to Naoussa, there are many stunning beaches where you can enjoy clean waters and enchanting scenery. Lageri, Xifara, and Iconomou Island are just a few. On the edge of Naoussa, another popular spot with those who like to stay close to the beach is St. Anargiri. Piperi, yet another much frequented beach is situated on the other side of Naoussa, where the road to Parikia starts. Following this road to Parikia, you come to a junction that takes you to Kolimbithres. A beach with emerald waters and enchanting cliffs, which are a geological phenomenon. If you keep driving, you will reach Monastiri, one more beach that attracts many.
